Cordyceps is een unieke schimmel en wordt al eeuwenlang gebruikt in de traditionele Chinese geneeskunde. Deze schimmel was ook de inspiratie voor het populaire videospel en de serie The Last Of Us. In de serie is het eigenlijk een zombieschimmel die zijn gastheer overneemt. De oorspronkelijke medicinale paddenstoel, de cordyceps, heeft een iets andere aanpak. Cordyceps, of de rupsschimmel, laat sporen achter op insecten en neemt langzaam de gastheer over. De paddenstoel groeit langzaam in het insect en zal uiteindelijk het insect doden. Dit is ook de reden waarom hij de rupszwam wordt genoemd, omdat hij de gastheer in principe levend zal opeten. Kortom: de cordyceps is een parasitaire champignon <\/a>die groeit in Europa, Noord-Amerika en Azi\u00eb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dus is cordyceps gevaarlijk?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Voor sommigen heeft het misschien geen zin om een parasitaire paddenstoel te eten. De paddenstoel wordt echter al eeuwenlang gebruikt in bijvoorbeeld de traditionele Chinese geneeskunde. Zelfs nu worden de cordyceps gebruikt door sporters om hun resultaten te verbeteren. Het is ook mogelijk om verse cordyceps te kopen voor culinair gebruik. De smaak is vrij zoet en een beetje aards. Verse cordyceps zijn echter in de meeste landen moeilijk verkrijgbaar. Het cordyceps supplement is net als elk ander supplement. Als je het supplement gebruikt en je volgt de instructies op de verpakking dan zal het je geen negatieve bijwerkingen geven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De cordyceps als traditionele Chinese geneeskunde<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

De cordyceps <\/a>die gebruikt wordt in supplementen wordt meestal gekweekt op rijstgrond. Dit type paddenstoel is een andere soort en staat bekend als cordyceps sinensis. Aan de andere kant heb je ook cordyceps sinensis. Vooral de laatste wordt beschouwd als de keizerlijke paddenstoel, omdat hij zeer rijk is aan verschillende voedingsstoffen die nodig zijn om je lichaam gezond te houden. Deze paddenstoel staat ook bekend om zijn gezonde eigenschappen en wordt al eeuwenlang gebruikt in de traditionele Chinese geneeskunde. Wat is het verschil tussen de cordyceps militaris en de sinsensis?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Zoals gezegd zijn er twee soorten cordyceps die als supplement kunnen worden gebruikt. De verhouding tussen deze twee is een beetje verschillend. De sinsensis bevat meer cordycepine, terwijl de militaris meer polysacchariden bevat. De cordyceps sinsensis is uiterst zeldzaam omdat hij vooral in de Tibetaanse bergen groeit en meer dan 20.000 dollar per kilo kan kosten, wat hem tot de duurste paddenstoel ter wereld maakt. De cordyceps militaris kan commercieel gekweekt worden en wordt daarom gebruikt voor de meeste cordyceps supplementen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De gezonde eigenschappen van cordyceps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cordyceps staat bekend om zijn vele gezonde eigenschappen. De cordyceps bevat bijvoorbeeld verschillende soorten polysachariden, eiwitten, vitamine A, B1, E, en mineralen zoals zink, magnesium en calcium. De cordyceps familie is meestal erg groot, maar in de meeste gevallen vind je deze eigenschappen: cordycepine, adenosine monofosfaat, ergosterol peroxide, en mannitol. Dit leidt tot verschillende effecten.
